Selbu folk museum is located in the old rectory next to Selbu kirke – the commune’s medieval church in the centre of Selbu.
The folk museum contains objects from the village's diverse cultural history in handicrafts. The Selbu knitting tradition with the selbu mittens and the selbu rose is known both nationally and internationally. Today, the selbu mittens are Selbu’s most well known trademark. The history of the Selbu knitting dates back to around 1850, and the exhibition with about the famous mittens can be found in Selbu Bygdemuseum. The museum also has an exhibition about the millstone industry in the mountains in Selbu from the 16th century until approx. 1914.
